How long will it take for my books to arrive? Canadian orders are shipped by Canada Post within 24 hours of receiving payment. American and most overseas orders are mailed regularly from Pembina, North Dakota . Then it's up to the post office! You can expect a book shipped by surface through Canada Post to arrive at a Canadian destination within three to seven days, longer for remote locations. USPS book rate deliveries take about the same time. Our overseas customers may wait about 3 weeks for regular mail and about a week for priority mail.
Do you do appraisals? Sometimes. Although Burton frequently receives requests for appraisals, this service is mainly offered to institutions. Burton prefers to focus his efforts on acquiring quality books for the shop. However, if you have something interesting, by all means, bring it to us and we'll talk about it.

When you say a book is in very good condition, what does that mean? We try very hard to provide accurate and consistent descriptions of the condition of our books. You will notice that most of our books are listed as being in very good (VG) condition. You can expect some wear in a VG book. The spine or the corners might be slightly bumped; there may be minor edgewear or slight fading. For most books, these minor flaws are not a concern. After all, they are used books! When we list collectible books, however, we become even more fussy about the description and we make careful notes of every deficiency. If you need more information about the condition of a book, you can always call or email for assistance.

What if I don't like the book? Can I send it back? We do not send books on approval. We do our very best to provide detailed and accurate descriptions of our books so that our customers will know exactly what to expect. If our description of the book is inaccurate and you are dissatisfied, please call us to discuss the problem. We will make it right for you!
Is it safe to send my credit card number by email? Our customers have not reported any problems with credit card transactions via email. Some customers send their credit card numbers in two separate emails. Others place their order by email, then phone or fax in their credit card number at a later time. We ask you to do whatever makes you the most comfortable.
